How to make your own super-duper version of Clinique ID (and with EGF!)
Did you see the latest “personalized” Clinique?
But the new gimmick takes some chutzpah: 15 products (5×3) is not personalized.
What do you get for $39? You get 3.9oz (117mL) of a base cream, lotion or gel, plus 0.1 oz (3mL) of a concentrate that contains some ingredients with undefined anti-aging benefits like caffeine, taurine and whey protein.
What’s the problem? I like Clinique moisturizers because they work for very dry skin because they contain mineral oil (you can add this to any base cream for 5 cents, though). But, Clinique has very few actives as such. Its products can moisturize and very little more.
For example, Clinique’s concentrate for wrinkles contains the following
Water, Butylene Glycol (solvent), Whey Protein(like in protein drinks), Pentylene Glycol (solvent), Glycerin, Sodium Citrate (pH adjuster), Sweet Almond Seed Extract (left after oil extraction), Caffeine, Porphyridium Cruentum Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Micrococcus Lysate, Pullulan, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Taurine, Hexylene Glycol, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Blue 1, Red 33.
This concentrate can do very little for your skin. The pullulan, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and whey protein may help stretch the skin in a temporary make-up-like effect.
Glycerine is always nice, a good humectant. Caffeine can help with puffy eyes, but not with wrinkles. And so on.

You wish to personalize it further? Maybe add an active that you always wanted to try. Or add some more sea kelp bioferment (of classic La Mer fame). But it is great “as is”.
To complete this anti-age treatment, use Vitamin A cream at night.
